terry fox. insomnia. school.

listening: fix you, coldplay

so today was the terry fox pajama run at school. and i really wish i could have enjoyed it more.
i think i`ve probably got around 15 hours of sleep in the past 3 or 4 days, just unable to fall asleep. too many things running through my head, and i wish i could put it on my blog, but due to certain readers i can`t.
school is starting to put some pressure on me too, there`s more and more homework, more stuff i need to know and do.
i`m just stressed and i need the weekend to be here. i need one day, just one day where i don`t have to do anything, live up to any expectations, just crash with maybe a friend and some xbox.

because i don`t even want to look at the world right now.

i know i need you...

listening: tenth avenue north, times

oh, it`s been too long.
i`ve been busy with school and stuff...aw, i can`t lie. i`ve been putting off blogging.
i really want to go to the trews acoustic show at mac hall on october 29th. but it`s 18+. so apparently that`s not going to happen. drivers ed starts on october 9th though, so that`s sweet.
and this providence just came on, i owe jenn so much for lending me those cd`s.
can you tell i`m having trouble blogging?
there are about...8 days until my birthday, and i really wish rae was in town for it. like really. i only get 1 16th birthday.
ah well.
phoenix in february.
-brett

well, i did warn you

listening: times, tenth avenue north

i`m back, blogger.
and i warned you i wouldn`t blog for a while.
anyway, i`m mildly concussed, so i`m going to keep it short.
james river was this past weekend, and it was awesome.
halo: reach was a disappointment
i will blog in detail when my head stops bleeding.
-brett

the style will not be denied.

listening: you`re so sober, the trews

i love high school. the dynamic has finally seemed like it changed. for instance, thursday i wore a white polo shirt with an orange v-neck sweater over it and skinny jeans. and no one made fun of me. friday i wore a green dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the top three buttons undone and a tie. and no one made fun of me. i can finally wear what i want, come into my own. it. it. awesome.
so today i went to h&m to get my next accessory: a scarf. we`ll see what they make of it monday.
friday i stood in line for guidance for an hour and a half only for them to tell me i couldn`t do anything. so i didn`t want to look like an idiot, so i dropped sports med.
it`s funny, really.

letter challenge- your crush

does not belong on this blog.

listening: down with webster, whoa is me

yeah, the only reason i`m listening to down with webster is because much music is on in the background.
anyway, me and dad had a pretty good talk today, because i was expressing desire to join vocal jazz. and then i had a sharp shock of reality. two hours of studying a day is necessary to get grades that`ll get me in med school.
so vocal jazz is out, guitar will be next if there`s conflict.
i think it`s worth it. right now school should be the most important thing in my life. if i had only figured that out earlier i would be having a much easier time with my course load. i signed up for calm online so i`m doing five cores this semester.
listening: acdc, back in black
i am starting to love much.

letter challenge- your closest friends

Dear D. B, J. S, M. S, L. S, and N. C,

First off, I want to thank you. No matter what I dump on your shoulders, you are always there for me. Whatever I'm going through, you always are there for me with a hand on my shoulder. I'm sorry if it seems like I only take, but also know that I do try and help you guys too.
Thank you for making me laugh, making me just happy.
I know that this is a crappy letter, but I think it sums up all my feelings.

fool is a devil and the devil's a fool

listening: every word is a knife in my ear, the bravery

what do i call today. it's more firsts, really. first day of homework. first day of official 'not just course outline' classes. first day of bass after the summer. a good day? yeah. it was pretty good. there is a debate poster i want to steal, it's a keep calm and carry on parody, an A with a crown with be smart and join debate. i love love love it. anyway, i don't have much time to blog, i have to eat before i go to bass/work, so i guess i'll blog in depth later.
i'm also thinking of starting the letter project.
-brett

oh my word, what a weekend.

listening: i'm so sick, flyleaf

what a weekend. friday uncle bruce was here, saturday uncle john and auntie cheryl were here, and sunday and today was the berg's. it has been a busy weekend, hence the lack of blogging.
anyway, the berg's came for the labour day game, and it didn't end well. i ended up getting a ticket at the last minute so i went with matt and left with dad and alanna halfway through the third quarter when the score was a mere 40-5. final score? 52-5 calgary.
needless to say, the transit ride home was frosty.
anyway, the berg's are still here so i'm going to go hang out with them a bit.
i'll blog tomorrow.
pce.

ok, here we go

listening: echelon, pillar

first day of classes. great. the day started in the debate room, where jenn, jason and i were joined by 12 grade 10's waiting for their 'advisor class' with ms fraser. jason left. then it was homeroom again, where evil doctor lopeth brought out the bicycle chains and pulled our toenails out. after that it was time for my grade 10 math class, where mr. mcknight told joke after joke and expected laughter out of the scared grade 10's. lisa and i are the only grade 11's in the class, because she failed math while she was in holland and i wanted to repeat. oh oh! unexpected bonus! the curriculum for math 10-c is the exact same as math 10-applied. the exact same. i am going to pwn this class into oblivion. anyway, after that our ankles were chained together and we were marched back down to see dr. lopeth, who in the last hour had transformed his classroom into an operating room. he harvested our kidneys for use in stews at the un building. after the anesthetic wore off, it was lunchtime where we defended the debate room from hordes of the near 600 new (rabid) grade 10's. ms. fraser's obama chia pet led the resistance.
anyway, after lunch it was time for the easiest class ever (round 2), fla 20-2. and it consists of the exact same people as 10-2. this will be so much fun.
and then chemistry, where mr. schrottner blew the lid off a paint can with natural gas and fire. i think chemistry with him is going to be epic.
and there you have it. day 1, gone.

posting was...

listening: lifehouse, everything

...sadly neglected yesterday like a baby under a bench at kings cross station that neither harry nor dumbledore can help. harry potter moment.
anyway, i didn't post yesterday because it would have been the same 'i must do better' claptrap i've been talking about all fricking summer. but now that school is back in session, i will post first day recap and timetable and thoughts on both! this is mainly for my sister who is not around to hear me rant (rae)
i arrived at school at 11:30, please note school started at 1, and so i slid through the hordes of tenth graders and arrived relatively unscathed at the debate room, where i ran into coleby and andrew. then, after les petits left, i went looking for people. i ran into shannon, chat chitted with her for a bit, and then saw leandro arrive, so i headed back to the debate room. we were shortly thereafter joined by jenn. fast forward to the assembly. i see now why aberhart speeches are famed for being so boring. the combination of mr. flaig, mr. ferguson, and the ridiculously butt-unfriendly bleachers make for an unpleasant situation. fast forward through the many speeches on lanyards and smoking, and we arrive in The Torture Chamber, also known as room 116, lair of the evil doctor lopez. the thing about him, is that he can stretch a relatively simple thing such as distribution of medical forms into a 20 minute lecture. whereas all the other classes were finished by about 2:30, we finished at 3. the one perk, is that (i'm guessing here) the administration took pity on lopez's kids and be all get our own lockers! granted, they are down the dungeon hallway, but i use the debate room as a locker anyway. anyway, after i escaped from the Never Ending Speech (TM) me and jenn took the train to crowfoot, and after i boarded the 143 i realised i did not have my headphones. so i put the speaker on my ipod (quietly) and listened to lifehouse on the way home. all in all, you'd think i didn't have a good day. but i did. it was fantastic to see mes amis again.
and now timetable time.
semester 1.
math 10-cf
mr. mcknight
i am retaking math 10, yes. i need the pure stream.
social 20-1f
evil doctor lopez
i actually let out a high pitched scream when i saw this. not lopez again!
fla 20-2
wait...i thought i was in -1? oh well, dunn's classes are simple.
chemistry 20
mr. schrottner
i have never heard of this man. but if he's mean he will be known in my mind as mr. snottner.
semester 2.
bio 20
mr. craig
yes! i wanted craig after hearing about him from alanna and jenn
sports med 15
mr. pelehos
to be expected.
physics 20
ms. foster
never heard of this one either. i guess we'll see. oh, mean name: ms. foster child.
english 20-1
ms. griffin
apparently she's good. she can't be worse than mcmillan, so...

and so brett escapes with one -2 course and one evil doctor. things could be a whole lot worse.
this'll be a good year, methinks.
